Odisha CM Holds Meet With Mine Lease Holders To Ramp Up Iron Ore Production
CM Majhi chaired a high-level meeting with mine leaseholders and industrialists to deliberate on boosting iron ore production in the state. The meeting, held at Lok Seva Bhavan here, the Chief Minister advised all the stakeholders to increase iron ore production in the state.
He assured the industrialists and industry representatives that the state government would provide full support for the meeting.
Discussions in the meeting focused on enhancing output in line with requirements, prioritising production and dispatch, while keeping in view the minimum mandatory limits stipulated under the Mine Development and Production Agreement (MDPA).
During the meeting, the Chief Minister noted that the number of industries in the state's mineral-rich districts is low. He urged industrialists to set up industries in these regions to promote balanced regional development.
He further stated that all necessary facilities and support would be provided by the state government to enhance iron ore production.
The Chief Minister also emphasised that industrialists should give special attention to ensure the availability of the basic amenities of residents in mining areas.
The Chief Minister said that a database is being prepared to provide information about land acquired in various districts for compensatory afforestation for the establishment of industries, enabling mine leaseholders and industrialists to know how much land is available in which district.
The state government has prepared an annual auction calendar for 2026-27 to expedite the mine auction process, and mineral blocks will be auctioned accordingly.
