Pakistan, Egypt Kick Off Joint Counter-Terror Exercise

(MENAFN) Pakistan kicked off a two-week joint counter-terrorism exercise with Egyptian forces on Monday in the northwestern province of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, marking the latest milestone in growing military cooperation between the two nations.

The Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) — the Pakistani military's media arm — confirmed in an official statement that Pakistan–Egypt Joint Exercise Thunder-II was formally launched at the Special Operations School in Cherat.

Elite special forces units from both countries are taking part in the drills.

According to the ISPR, the exercise is designed to strengthen "professional skills through joint training," and further enhance "the longstanding military-to-military relations between the two friendly countries."

The fortnight-long training initiative underscores deepening defense ties between Islamabad and Cairo, as both nations seek to sharpen their combined operational readiness against evolving security threats in the region.
