Rosctl, Rodtep Extensions To Support MSME Liquidity, Export Competitiveness: PHDCCI

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Apr 4 (KNN) Amid ongoing geopolitical tensions in West Asia, export promotion schemes such as RoSCTL (Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies) and RoDTEP (Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products) are helping Indian exporters remain competitive in global markets, according to Ranjeet Mehta, CEO and Secretary General, PHD Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PHDCCI).

Speaking with ANI, Mehta said, "RoSCTL and RoDTEP reduce embedded taxes, enabling exporters to offer more competitive prices globally," and added that the schemes are crucial in a highly price-sensitive international market.

Support for MSMEs and Textile Sector

The benefits are particularly significant for micro, small and medium enterprises (MSMEs), which form a major part of India's export base.

The government has recently extended the RoSCTL scheme for apparel and made-ups shipments until September 30, while the RoDTEP scheme has been continued for another six months to cover other sectors, including textiles not eligible under RoSCTL.

Mehta described the extension as a timely move, noting that it“will help improve liquidity for MSMEs, support employment, and enhance the competitiveness of the textile and apparel sector.”

Relief Measures Amid Supply Chain Disruptions

These policy measures come at a time when global supply chains are facing disruptions due to geopolitical tensions, leading to fluctuating demand, higher logistics costs, and pressure on exporter margins.

To ease input cost pressures, the government has also granted a temporary exemption on customs duty for certain critical petrochemical imports until June 30. This is expected to benefit industries such as plastics, packaging, textiles, pharmaceuticals, chemicals, and automotive components.

Coordinated Policy Response

Mehta highlighted that lower input costs can improve margins and working capital efficiency, complementing export incentives.

He noted that the government is maintaining close coordination with industry stakeholders and monitoring global developments to enable timely interventions.

"There is continuous engagement and feedback, which enables timely interventions and reflects preparedness to deal with emerging challenges," he added.
