Torkham Border Witnesses Increased Flow As Afghan Repatriation Speeds Up


(MENAFN- Tribal News Network) The process of repatriation of Afghan families residing illegally in Pakistan has accelerated, as the government has permitted their return to Afghanistan through the Torkham border.

According to customs sources, hundreds of trucks have reached Torkham, where vehicles are being cleared in phases. After clearance, the trucks are being allowed to enter Afghanistan.

Sources say that at the holding camp established at Hamza Baba Shrine, hundreds of Afghan refugees-including men, women, children, and the elderly-are being registered and then transported to the Torkham border via flying coaches.

Meanwhile, cargo trucks carrying their belongings are being sent separately to Afghanistan after clearance.

According to officials, vehicles that had dropped off Afghan refugees and were returning have also been allowed re-entry into Pakistan.

On April 1, 2026, a total of 451 Afghan nationals were deported from various districts, including 304 men, 55 women, and 92 children.

Among those deported, 79 were from Gujranwala, 157 from Peshawar Central Jail, 120 from Rahim Yar Khan, 31 from Muzaffarabad, 17 from Khushab, 19 from Sargodha, 15 from Mirpur Khas, 9 from Peshawar Juma Khan Camp, and 4 from Sahiwal.

Officials state that the process of repatriation and deportation at the Torkham border is ongoing, and more individuals will be transferred to Afghanistan in phases in the coming days.
