GO2 Health Named Official Health Partner For Brisbane's Run Army

(MENAFN- EIN Presswire) EINPresswire/ -- GO2 Health has been named the official health partner of Run Army in a new three-year partnership that will see the Brisbane-based medical and allied health provider embed its specialist expertise into one of Queensland's fastest-growing community running events.

Held in the lead-up to ANZAC Day, Run Army invites the community to run shoulder to shoulder with current serving Australian Defence Force members, veterans, and first responders from Queensland Police, Queensland Ambulance, Queensland Fire and Emergency Services, and Surf Life Saving. Over 9,000 participants took part this year, with the event raising close to $1 million since its inception.

The partnership comes at a time when the health needs of veterans and first responders are increasingly critical. Research from the Australian Institute of Health and Welfare shows that ex-serving ADF members experience higher rates of chronic musculoskeletal conditions, mental health hospitalisations, and fatigue-related illness than the general population. Among Australian first responders, the rate of post-traumatic stress disorder is twice that of the general population, with paramedics recording a prevalence of 14.6 per cent.

The most commonly reported physical symptoms across both current serving and transitioned ADF personnel include fatigue, sleeping difficulties, low back pain, muscle aches, and joint stiffness - conditions that sit at the centre of GO2 Health's clinical model. Critically, 66 per cent of service members and veterans who died by suicide were not accessing DVA services at the time, underscoring the importance of meeting these communities in environments where they already gather.

GO2 Health currently supports more than 2,200 veterans each week from its Brisbane clinics. The organisation's interdisciplinary model brings GPs, specialists, and allied health professionals together under one roof, delivering integrated care across physiotherapy, exercise physiology, psychology, and rehabilitation.

“The veteran and first responder community carries an enormous physical and psychological load, and too often they don't ask for help until something breaks,” Martin continued.“Events like Run Army create an environment where that community comes together, and having our team of physiotherapists and exercise physiologists on-site means we can meet people where they are, offer real clinical support, and show them that there's a team in their corner. That's why we've committed to three years. Meaningful health outcomes for these communities require sustained, consistent engagement, not one-off gestures. We want to build something these communities can rely on, year after year.”

In the first year of the partnership, GO2 Health has developed a suite of evidence-based preparation resources for Run Army participants, including a six-week strength and conditioning program, a daily mobility and prehab routine targeting common running injuries, and a race-day nutrition timing guide. On race day, physiotherapists and exercise physiologists were on-site to support participants with post-run performance and clinical advice.
