Israeli Strikes on Southern Lebanon Kills Ten

(MENAFN) Ten people were killed and 12 others wounded Saturday after Israel carried out two separate airstrikes on towns in southern Lebanon, the country's Health Ministry confirmed.

In the first strike, seven people lost their lives and eight were injured when Israeli forces hit the town of Deir al-Zahrani, located in the Nabatieh district, according to the ministry. A second statement from the Health Ministry confirmed that a subsequent Israeli strike on the neighboring town of Kfartebnit left three dead and four more injured.

The deadly twin strikes are part of a relentless Israeli air and ground campaign that has pummeled southern Lebanon since Hezbollah launched a cross-border attack on March 2 — prompting Israel to unleash a sweeping aerial bombardment followed by a ground offensive in the south.

Lebanese authorities report the human toll has grown staggering in the weeks since: at least 1,189 people killed and 3,427 injured as a direct result of Israeli military operations on Lebanese soil.

The carnage in Lebanon unfolds against the backdrop of a broader, rapidly escalating regional war. A joint US-Israeli offensive launched against Iran on Feb. 28 has claimed more than 1,340 lives to date, including former Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei. Tehran has retaliated with sustained waves of drone and missile strikes directed at Israel and American military installations across Gulf nations — further destabilizing an already fractured region with no clear path toward de-escalation.
