Circular Library is set to host its upcoming Make & Mend Night on Thursday, March 19, 2026, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM, offering participants a relaxed and hands-on creative experience centered around practical sewing skills, mindful craftsmanship, and community connection. Organized in partnership with cloudgazers, the event invites individuals of all skill levels to slow down, learn useful techniques, and reconnect with the art of making and repairing.
Held every third Thursday at Circular Library, the Make & Mend gatherings have become a growing space where creativity and sustainability meet. The event encourages participants to explore simple yet meaningful skills such as sewing, garment repair, and clothing care while sharing time with others in a supportive, welcoming environment. Designed for beginners as well as experienced makers, the sessions provide guidance, tools, and the opportunity to work on personal projects.
During the March session, attendees will learn several foundational sewing skills that can be applied immediately in everyday life. Participants will be guided through techniques such as properly hemming pants by hand or with a sewing machine, understanding basic sewing stitches, and gaining familiarity with sewing machines. A limited number of machines will be available for hands-on practice, allowing newcomers to gain confidence while learning essential techniques.
Guests are also encouraged to bring their own small mending or sewing projects. Whether it is repairing a favorite garment, altering clothing for a better fit, or learning new ways to extend the life of everyday items, the gathering emphasizes practical knowledge that supports mindful clothing care and sustainable habits.
All basic sewing tools and materials will be provided, ensuring that participants can fully engage with the workshop even if they have no prior experience. The evening is intentionally designed to feel welcoming and relaxed, making it easy for newcomers to step into the creative process without pressure.
In addition to hands-on learning, the event offers a cozy social environment where creativity can unfold naturally. Guests will enjoy tea, homemade kombucha, and a calm atmosphere that encourages conversation, experimentation, and connection. The gathering aims to create a space where participants can slow down from busy routines and rediscover the satisfaction of working with their hands.
The workshop will be led by Sanni Diesner, a fashion designer known for her work in creating artistic and healing environments around the world. As the creator of several creative community spaces in Los Angeles, Germany, and Tenerife, Diesner brings a unique perspective that blends design, craftsmanship, and human connection. Her work focuses on creating spaces where people can come together through art, creativity, and shared experiences.
Beyond her professional work in fashion and design, Diesner is passionate about building meaningful in-person connections. Her workshops emphasize both practical learning and the deeper value of creativity as a tool for expression and community. As a mother of four sons and a designer who has worked across multiple continents, she brings both energy and thoughtful guidance to each gathering.
The Make & Mend Night reflects the broader mission of Circular Library and its partner community cloudgazers - to celebrate slow creativity, sustainability, and the beauty of handmade work. By teaching skills such as mending and clothing care, the event encourages participants to develop a more thoughtful relationship with the items they wear and the creative processes behind them.
Registration for the March 19 session is currently open, with limited spots available to ensure an intimate and supportive learning environment.
