Trump Accuses Media of Colluding with Iran, Warns of Treason Charges
(MENAFN) US President Donald Trump has threatened media outlets with treason charges, accusing them of deliberately working with Iran to undermine Washington’s decisive “victory,” as stated by reports.
In a lengthy post on Truth Social on Sunday, Trump claimed that “fake news” organizations were disseminating false content allegedly created by Iran using artificial intelligence.
“The fact is, Iran is being decimated, and the only battles they ‘win’ are those that they create through AI, and are distributed by Corrupt Media Outlets,” he wrote.
Trump asserted that Tehran had circulated doctored footage showing attacks on US military assets, including supposed strikes on refueling aircraft and naval vessels. He said some of the images depicted fictional “kamikaze boats” and a burning USS Abraham Lincoln aircraft carrier, dismissing them as AI-generated propaganda designed to make Iran appear militarily successful.
According to Trump, only one aircraft was actually damaged and remains out of service since the escalation of hostilities on February 28.
Describing the outlets that published these reports as “Corrupt and Highly Unpatriotic ‘News’ Organizations,” Trump added that media spreading “knowingly FAKE” information “should be brought up on Charges for TREASON for the dissemination of false information.”
The US and Israel initiated coordinated strikes against Iran in late February, prompting retaliatory attacks by Tehran across the region. Reports indicate that over ten US aircraft have been damaged or destroyed, including several refueling planes in Saudi Arabia, fighter jets lost to friendly fire, multiple drones, a refueling aircraft crash in Iraq, and damage to regional bases.
