Residents In The UAE 'May' Experience Cloudy Weather And Possible Rainfall Around Eid Al-Fitr
- By: Nandini Sircar
UAE residents could experience cloudy weather and possibly rain during Eid Al Fitr 2026, as meteorologists monitor a developing weather system that may bring unsettled conditions to the region.
Early projections indicate that weather conditions during Eid could remain partly unsettled, though forecasts may still change, Dr Ahmed Habib, a meteorologist at the National Centre of Meteorology (NCM), told Khaleej Times on Wednesday.

This may lead to cloud cover and probably even give us rainfall. If we see rainfall during Eid, it is expected to affect coastal and western parts of the country more significantly,” he added.

More showers expected in coming daysThe update comes after several days of rain across parts of the UAE, including Dubai, Abu Dhabi, and northern emirates such as Ras Al Khaimah, as unstable weather systems move across the region.
Meteorologists say the current rainfall activity is being driven by a surface low-pressure system supported by an upper-air extension. These systems often bring waves of cloud formation and intermittent showers during seasonal transitions.
Dr Habib explained that rainfall over the next few days will likely occur in bursts rather than steady showers.
“We have a chance of rainfall on Wednesday, Thursday and Friday in scattered areas, particularly in western parts of Abu Dhabi and northern areas such as Ras Al Khaimah, and possibly even in Dubai,” he said.“However, the rain will not be continuous. It will come and go in intervals.”
Temperatures may climb close to 39°CWhile rain chances remain in the short term, temperatures are expected to rise gradually over the coming days.
“Temperatures will remain steady today and tomorrow, but will begin rising gradually afterwards,” he added.“By Sunday and Monday, we expect a significant increase, with maximum temperatures reaching around 38–39°C.”
Winds are expected to be fresh to strong at times, particularly from the northeast, with speeds ranging from 15 to 30 km/h and occasionally reaching 50 km/h. These winds may cause blowing dust and sand before easing later in the day.
Sea conditions are forecast to be rough at first, then moderate to slight in the Arabian Gulf and the Gulf of Oman.
According to Dr Habib, rainfall activity should taper off soon.
“The rainfall will subside over the next two days. From Saturday onwards, the weather will be partly cloudy with no chance of rain,” he said.
He explained that the current conditions are linked to a trough - or low-pressure system - over the Middle East, particularly north of the Red Sea. Clouds forming over the Red Sea and central Saudi Arabia are moving eastward toward the UAE in waves.
“This pattern is quite normal for this time of year,” he said.“We are still in the final phase of winter and approaching spring, which officially begins on March 21. During this transition, quick shifts between stable and unstable weather conditions are common.”
