During a closed-door retreat of House Republicans in Florida, party officials advised lawmakers to focus their messaging on deportations of violent offenders rather than broad-scale removals, according to reports. A senior GOP aide noted that the emphasis would be “about deporting violent criminals and not mass deportations.”

This shift comes amid polling that indicates public support is waning for expansive deportation policies linked to former President Donald Trump, who had previously pledged “the largest deportation in the history of our country.”

White House spokeswoman Abigail Jackson clarified that the policy itself remains unchanged, stressing that Trump’s “highest priority has always been the deportation of illegal alien criminals who endanger American communities.”
