WHO Delivers 25 Tonnes Of Medicines, Medical Supplies To Afghanistan


(MENAFN- Pajhwok Afghan News) KABUL (Pajhwok): The World Health Organisation (WHO) has delivered 25 tonnes of essential cancer medicines and non-communicable disease (NCD) kits to hospitals across Afghanistan to support treatment services for thousands of patients.

In a post on X account, the organisaiton wrote:“WHO has donated 25 metric tonnes of essential medicines and medical supplies to the National Cancer Hospital and the cancer unit at Aliabad Hospital in Kabul and three regional cancer units in Nangarhar, Balkh and Herat provinces of Afghanistan.”

It said the assistance includes life-saving chemotherapy medicines and kits for NCDs.

Funded by the European Union Delegation in Afghanistan, the NCD kits were expected to benefit 16,200 patients, while the cancer medicines will support the treatment of 13,130 patients over the next six months, the organisation added.
