Zelensky Announces Work With European Partners To Unblock Decisions On Ukraine's Defense
The head of state recalled that work is currently ongoing at the site of the Russian strike on a residential high-rise building in Kharkiv. Additional specialists from the Poltava and Sumy regions have been involved in clearing the rubble.
As a result of the attack, there are fatalities, including a 13-year-old girl and a nine-year-old boy. Zelensky expressed condolences to the families and loved ones of the victims.
Also, 16 people were injured in the strike, he noted. All of them are receiving the necessary assistance.
The President stressed that the enemy attack was directed specifically against civilians. In Kyiv and other regions, Russian invaders also targeted energy infrastructure facilities.
Zelensky emphasized that there has been no progress so far on the EU's 20th sanctions package targeting Russia over this war. There has also been no movement on the 90-billion-euro assistance package for Ukraine.
“Even though Europe recognizes that this is vital for us, the blocking of the package still continues,” he said.
Zelensky also coordinated positions on this issue with Emmanuel Macron.
The leaders also discussed Ukraine's need for round-the-clock protection from Russian attacks.
“This requires resilience and support – the implementation of all the agreements that have been reached and that are still, in many respects, on pause. I thank Emmanuel, and I thank the other leaders who understand the full extent of the dangers and do not play games with people's live,” Zelensky said.
As previously reported by Ukrinform, President Volodymyr Zelensky discussed the situation in Ukraine and in the Middle East with French President Emmanuel Macron.
