Amman, March 3 (Petra) -- Cold conditions are expected to continue across most regions through Friday, with early-morning frost possible and limited chances of light rain midweek, the Jordan Meteorological Department said.
Tuesday's weather is forecast to remain sunny but cold in most areas, while the Jordan Valley, the Dead Sea and Aqaba will see milder temperatures. Northeasterly winds are expected to blow at moderate speeds before shifting to northwesterly later in the day.
The department warned of frost formation during the early morning hours over mountainous areas and parts of the Badia and plains. Reduced visibility due to blowing dust is also possible at times, particularly in desert regions.
Temperatures are expected to edge lower on Wednesday, with cold conditions and variable cloud cover prevailing. A weak chance of light showers is forecast during the evening in limited parts of northern regions and the northeastern Badia. Northwesterly winds are expected to become active during the afternoon, especially in desert areas.
A slight rise in temperatures is forecast on Thursday and Friday, though conditions will remain cold across most regions. Low-level clouds are expected on Thursday, while higher-altitude clouds are forecast on Friday. Winds will remain moderate, shifting from southeasterly to northwesterly on Friday afternoon.
For Tuesday, temperatures in eastern Amman are expected to range between 16 C and 6 C, compared with 14 C and 4 C in western Amman. The northern highlands are forecast to record between 13 C and 2 C, while the Sharah highlands may drop to -1 C overnight. Aqaba is expected to record highs of 24 C and lows of 10 C.
