Guests have been advised not to travel to the airport, and to check with their airlines for flight updates.

Earlier, Dubai Airport had advised passengers to not travel to the airport without checking with their airlines first. In a statement, an airport spokesperson said that authorities are continuing to monitor developments in the region. This comes as the regional unrest continues after Israel and US launched a coordinated attack on Iran in Saturday morning, causing several regional airspaces to be closed.

“Dubai Airports confirms that some flights at Dubai International (DXB) and Dubai World Central - Al Maktoum International (DWC) are cancelled or delayed due to the temporary partial closure of UAE airspace, as an exceptional precautionary measure amid evolving regional security developments,” read the statement.

“We urge travellers to check with airlines and not to head to DXB or DWC at this time as we continue to monitor developments. Our focus remains on maintaining the highest standards of operational safety and passenger wellbeing,” the statement concluded.

On the Dubai Airport website, some flights were showing as delayed or as having a new time. Flights to Iranian cities like Tehran, Mashhad and Bandar Abbas as well as Iraqi cities like Najaf and Basra have been cancelled or delayed.

Abu Dhabi Airports have also posted on social media that some inbound and outbound flights at Zayed International Airport may experience diversions or cancellations.“We are working closely with airlines and relevant authorities to manage the situation and minimize disruptions,” it said in a statement.

Flights impacted

Multiple UAE airlines have confirmed that some of their flights have been impacted by the developments. Emirates Airlines, FlyDubai and Air Arabia have also said that they are closely monitoring the situation and are in direct contact with their passengers to help them with flight status and rebooking.

Emirates Airline said in a statement on its website that it had suspended all operations to and from Dubai due to multiple regional airspace closures.

Earlier today, the UAE aviation announced the temporary and partial closure of the country's airspace as an exceptional precautionary measure aimed at ensuring the safety of flights and aircrews and safeguarding the UAE's territory amid rapidly evolving regional security developments.

The General Civil Aviation Authority (GCAA) stated that the decision was taken following a comprehensive assessment of security and operational risks and in full coordination with relevant national and international authorities, stressing that airspace safety and the protection of the UAE's sovereignty remain absolute priorities.
