Khaleej Times earlier reported a sharp rise in road accidents across the UAE during the hours leading up to iftar in Ramadan, with the period between 2pm and 4pm identified as the most dangerous.

The findings were based on an analysis of 2,771 motor insurance claims filed during the holy month last year.

The study showed that 43 per cent of accidents occurred between noon and 6pm, while 28 per cent took place between 6pm and midnight.

Notably, the two-hour window from 2pm to 4pm alone accounted for 17 per cent of all recorded incidents, marking it as the peak time for road accidents.

The data, covering March 1 to 29, 2025, was jointly analysed by Al Wathba Insurance and RoadSafetyUAE to identify driving trends and promote greater safety awareness ahead of Ramadan.
