US Attorney General Refuses to Apologize to Epstein Victims

(MENAFN) US Attorney General Pam Bondi faced sharp criticism from Democratic lawmakers Wednesday at a House Judiciary Committee hearing after she declined to apologize directly to victims of Jeffrey Epstein’s sex trafficking operation.

Representative Pramila Jayapal asked the 11 survivors present in the room to stand and indicate if they had been unable to meet with the Justice Department. All 11 confirmed they had not. Jayapal then urged Bondi to “turn to them now and apologize for what your Department of Justice has put them through with the absolutely unacceptable release of the Epstein files and their information.”

Bondi refused, citing her predecessor and accusing the congresswoman of engaging in “theatrics.” “I’m not going to get in the gutter with these theatrics,” she said, and the discussion escalated into a shouting match.

Other Democrats pressed Bondi about the number of alleged co-conspirators who had been indicted and criticized the Justice Department’s redaction methods in documents released under laws requiring disclosure of Epstein-related records. Critics argue that the department shielded the names of certain associates while failing to properly protect identifying details of victims.

Bondi defended the administration’s actions, noting that over 3 million pages of documents had been released and describing President Donald Trump as “the most transparent president in the nation’s history.”
