Guinea Appoints Twenty Officials in Major Cabinet Shake-Up

(MENAFN) Guinean President Mamady Doumbouya installed 20 government officials across critical ministerial posts Monday, comprising 18 full ministers and two secretaries-general with ministerial status, per an official presidential decree.

The cabinet formation follows the mass departure of the previous administration in the aftermath of Guinea's December 2025 presidential ballot.

According to the decree, the strategic reorganization targets filling critical vacancies left open during the transition period. The newly configured administration demonstrates significant institutional stability, retaining or repositioning the majority of outgoing ministers while simultaneously integrating fresh leadership talent.

The appointments span essential governmental sectors: justice, national security, economic policy and finance, plus foreign affairs. The secretaries-general positions, which carry equivalent ministerial authority, were also assigned during the reshuffle.

Government officials characterized the appointments as an initial but crucial phase in reestablishing constitutional governance structures following December's electoral process.

The cabinet formation represents Doumbouya's effort to balance continuity with renewal as Guinea navigates its post-election governmental transition, positioning key personnel across departments vital to national administration and international relations.
