Turkey’s TAI Advances Homegrown Air Platforms After Record Year

(MENAFN) Türkiye’s defense leader, Turkish Aerospace Industries (TAI), is gearing up for a year of mass production and delivery of its homegrown air platforms after a record-setting 2025, the company’s CEO told Anadolu.

Mehmet Demiroglu highlighted that TAI and the broader Turkish defense industry achieved new milestones last year, with the export of the stealth fighter jet TAI Kaan to Indonesia being a standout achievement. “Türkiye’s most comprehensive and most expensive export to date was close to $15 billion, marking a massive source of motivation for us at TAI, as well as for the Kaan program, and for our country in general,” he said.

In Europe, TAI delivered around 30 units of its jet trainer Hurjet to Spain, a move Demiroglu described as “a huge step for both TAI and Türkiye.” The company also continued sales of its unmanned aerial combat vehicles (UCAVs), including the Anka and Aksungur models, while testing of the Anka III progressed.

Looking ahead to 2026, TAI is focusing on mass production and deliveries while still pursuing export deals. “Our main priority is deliveries of the jet trainers Hurjet and Hurkus and our unmanned vehicles,” Demiroglu said. He added that mass production of the utility helicopter Gokbey has begun, and deliveries of the aircraft will increase, while new Hurjet platforms will enter flight operations.

TAI is also set to introduce the P1 prototype of the stealth fighter jet TAI Kaan this year, followed by a P2 prototype later in 2026.
