Doha, Qatar: Qatar is reinforcing its position as a regional leader in secure digital infrastructure and mission-critical connectivity, reflecting the country's broader focus on resilience, innovation, and national security, said an official.

On the sidelines of Doha International Maritime Defence Exhibition and Conference (DIMDEX 2026) last week, Mohammed Mohsin Alyafei, Enterprise Business Unit Director at Vodafone Qatar, emphasised that the country's digital ecosystem is increasingly geared toward supporting high-risk and complex operational environments, particularly across maritime, defence, and public safety sectors.

Speaking to The Peninsula, he said,“Vodafone Qatar supports maritime and public safety sectors through secure communications and resilient digital infrastructure designed for demanding and high-risk environments.”

Alyafei explained that advanced mobile, fixed, private network, and satellite capabilities are enabling reliable communications, operational continuity, and real-time visibility for organisations where security and resilience are essential.

At DIMDEX 2026, Qatar's push toward future-ready connectivity was reflected in the technologies showcased to support mission-critical operations.

The official said Vodafone Qatar is highlighting“a portfolio of advanced connectivity solutions and smart technology services tailored for mission-critical operations,” including secure command communications, real-time operational monitoring through digital twin technology, deployable private 5G networks, enterprise-grade satellite connectivity for maritime and remote environments, and secure safety communications.

“These solutions are designed to enhance operational efficiency and secure communications in critical settings,” he noted.

According to Alyafei, advanced connectivity has become a cornerstone of situational awareness and operational readiness.

“Advanced connectivity solutions such as 5G and private networks enable real-time data exchange, low-latency communications, and secure access to critical information,” he said.

“This supports faster decision-making and ensures teams remain connected, informed, and responsive, even in complex or rapidly changing environments.

Beyond individual technologies, Alyafei stressed the strategic role of mobile operators in enabling Qatar's wider digital transformation agenda.

“Mobile operators play a pivotal role in advancing the nation's digital transformation by delivering secure, high-performance 5G connectivity, enabling innovative government services, and strengthening national security through advanced cybersecurity, identity-verification tools, and mission-critical communications,” he said.

He said by combining intelligent connectivity with technologies such as artificial intelligence, the Internet of Things, and cloud solutions, Vodafone Qatar continues to support government and security entities with resilient, future-ready digital infrastructure.

“This helps protect communities, enhance public services, and drive Qatar's long-term digital ambitions,” Alyafei said.

A key highlight at DIMDEX 2026 has been Vodafone Qatar's newly announced partnership with SpaceX's Starlink, which strengthens satellite connectivity offerings for mission-critical and maritime operations.

Alyafei said the partnership“expands Vodafone Qatar's satellite connectivity capabilities by enabling reliable connectivity in remote, maritime, and hard-to-reach environments.”“As Qatar's first B2B reseller of Starlink satellite connectivity services, Vodafone Qatar is strengthening its satellite portfolio to complement its mobile, fixed, and private network infrastructure,” he said, adding that this supports operational continuity, resilience, and secure communications for critical use cases.

He added that Vodafone Qatar will deliver end-to-end satellite connectivity services, including installation, configuration, testing, and ongoing support and maintenance.

“This ensures reliable deployment and continuous connectivity for mission-critical and maritime operations,” Alyafei remarked.

As Qatar continues to align advanced connectivity with national security and public safety priorities, industry leaders say the integration of secure digital infrastructure across land, sea, and remote environments will play a vital role in shaping the country's next phase of technological and operational resilience.
