Export Benefits Extended To Postal Channel, Relief For MSME Exporters

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Jan 20 (KNN) The Department of Posts (DoP) has operationalised the extension of export benefits including Duty Drawback, Remission of Duties and Taxes on Exported Products (RoDTEP) and Rebate of State and Central Taxes and Levies (RoSCTL) for exports made through the postal channel, with effect from 15 January 2026.

The move follows notifications issued by the Central Board of Indirect Taxes and Customs (CBIC).

The initiative is aimed at simplifying export procedures and expanding access to global markets, particularly for MSMEs, artisans, start-ups and small exporters who rely on the postal network for low- and medium-value international consignments.

With automated IGST refunds already in place, the availability of export incentives through the postal route is expected to reduce costs, improve liquidity and enhance export competitiveness.

Postal exports are facilitated through Dak Ghar Niryat Kendras (DNKs), a joint initiative of the Department of Posts and CBIC that provides end-to-end export facilitation under one roof.

Currently, 1,013 DNKs are operational nationwide, enabling exporters from remote and underserved regions to access international markets through booking, digital documentation and streamlined customs clearance.

To implement the extended benefits, system upgrades have been carried out across the DNK and Self-Service portals, as well as customs platforms, supported by clearly defined standard operating procedures for exporters and field officials.

These measures are aligned with the Foreign Trade Policy 2023 and the government's focus on ease of doing business and promotion of cross-border e-commerce.

India Post now offers a single-window export solution covering pick-up, documentation, online payments, faceless customs clearance and real-time tracking.

Services such as the International Tracked Packet Service, available in 135 countries, provide a cost-effective option for cross-border e-commerce shipments.

The Department of Posts said the initiative reinforces its role in empowering small exporters and MSMEs, widening export access and supporting India's integration into global trade networks.
