Boeing tops Airbus in 2025 orders for first time since 2018
(MENAFN) US aerospace giant Boeing secured 1,173 aircraft orders in 2025, surpassing European rival Airbus for the first time since 2018, according to recent figures. Despite this milestone, Boeing delivered fewer planes than Airbus over the year.
The 2025 orders represent a sharp increase from Boeing’s 377 net orders in 2024 and mark the fifth-highest annual total in the company’s history. Last month alone, Boeing delivered 63 jetliners, bringing its annual delivery count to 600—the highest in seven years, up from 348 in 2024.
Airbus, meanwhile, received 889 net orders but delivered 793 aircraft in 2025, slightly below its 2019 record of 863 deliveries. Supply chain issues, particularly involving engines, continue to cause delays, highlighting the importance of deliveries since airlines pay the majority of a plane’s cost upon receipt.
In December, Boeing recorded 174 new orders, including more than 100 737 Max jets for Alaska Airlines. Additionally, Delta Air Lines confirmed its first wide-body aircraft order, committing to at least 30 Boeing 787 Dreamliners.
