Vijay's Jana Nayagan Release Postponed 'Due To Unavoidable Circumstances'

This might come as a major disappointment to fans of Tamil superstar Vijay. 'Jana Nayagan ', his last film before the actor switches to politics completely, is not going to release on January 9. The film's release date was shrouded in uncertainty due to censor issues, and now, the producers have finally announced that they are postponing it.

Bengaluru-based KVN Productions, which forayed into Tamil cinema with 'Jana Nayagan', announced on X, "It is with a heavy heart that we share this update with our valued stakeholders and audiences. The release of Jana Nayagan, eagerly awaited on January 9, has been postponed due to unavoidable circumstances beyond our control."

"We deeply understand the anticipation, excitement, and emotions surrounding this film, and this decision has not been an easy one for any of us. The new release date will be announced at the earliest.

"Until then, we humbly request your patience and continued love. Your unwavering support is our greatest strength and means everything to the entire Jana Nayagan team," they added.

The postponement comes after India's film certification board, the Central Board of Film Certification (CBFC), informed the Madras High Court that the production requires a fresh review.

KVN Productions had approached the Madras High Court challenging the CBFC's decision. However, on Wednesday, January 7, the Madras High Court reserved orders on the writ petition filed by the production house against non-issuance of censor certificate by the board, Indian media reported.

Vijay, 51, had announced at the film's audio launch in Malaysia that he will no longer act in films. Last year, Vijay formed his political party, Tamilaga Vettri Kazhagam and announced that he'd be contesting in the Tamil Nadu state elections.
