Azerbaijan Unveils Growing Hotel Landscape In Karabakh And East Zangezur
"Hotels and public catering facilities have been established to provide rest and recreation for tourists visiting the liberated regions of Karabakh and East Zangezur. The State Tourism Agency continues its ongoing efforts to enhance the tourism infrastructure in these newly liberated areas," stated the agency.
In comparison, only 17 hotels were operational in these regions during the first five months of the previous year.
Tourism in Azerbaijan's Karabakh and East Zangezur regions is primarily focused on ecotourism, cultural heritage, health tourism (particularly mineral springs), and "dark tourism" (related to the post-occupation reconstruction). This multifaceted tourism sector draws upon the region's rich natural landscapes, historical sites such as Shusha and Aghdam, ancient landmarks including caves and fortresses, and newly developed infrastructure, including modern hotels. These efforts are part of a broader government initiative to foster cultural events, such as festivals, and stimulate the economic revitalization of the area.
