It's A Wrap For Mammootty And Mohanlal's 'Patriot'

The Malayalam political thriller Patriot, which reunites superstars Mammootty and Mohanlal after 17 years on the big screen, has wrapped up its shoot.

In a series of social media updates, its producers Anto Joseph Film Company, posted behind-the-scenes photos and videos of the crew to mark the occasion. "It's a pack up for Patriot," one of the updates read.

"That's a wrap. Blood, sweat, belief. #PATRIOT marches on. See you on the big screen," another update read.

A teaser of the film released in October last year, giving a hint of what to expect. It suggested a narrative focused on two individuals "who once controlled the country together".

Mammootty's character is introduced as someone who is determined towards a secret mission. And providing him company is silver screen idol Mohanlal.

Apart from Mohanlal and Mammootty, Patriot has generated excitement for bringing together a slew of leading actors. Directed by writer and cinematographer Mahesh Narayanan-known for making critically acclaimed flicks such as CU Soon, Take Off and Malik- Patriot also stars Revathy, Nayanthara, Fahadh Faasil, Rajiv Menon, Kunchako Boban and Darshana Rajendran.

Indian media has suggested that the movie could be a shoo-in for release during the Vishu festival (mid-April).

The big-budget entertainer has been shot across India, Sri Lanka and the UK.

Patriot is produced by Anto Joseph and KG Anil Kumar, under the banner of Anto Joseph Productions.

Speculation has swirled around the plotline of the film, with fan theories suggesting it could revolve around an Indian secret service officer (Mammootty or Mohanlal) rising one last time to clear his name.

While Mammootty was last seen in the critically acclaimed action thriller Kalamkaval, alongside Vinayakan, Gibin Gopinath, Gayatri Arun, Rajisha Vijayan.

Mohanlal's last movie was the fantasy action drama Vrusshabha, which also starred Samarjit Lankesh, Ragini Dwivedi and Neha Saxena. 2025 was a eventful year for the actor, who starred in the hits L2: Empuraan, Thudarum and Hridayapoorvam.
