The approved proposals include projects by prominent companies such as Dixon, Samsung Display Noida Pvt Ltd, Foxconn (Yuzhan Technology India Pvt Ltd), and Hindalco Industries.
The new approvals are expected to generate 33,791 direct employment opportunities.
These approvals follow an earlier tranche of 24 projects with an investment of Rs 12,704 crore, demonstrating a continued push to expand India's electronics manufacturing ecosystem, reported PTI.
Product Segments and Cross-Sectoral Applications
The 22 approved projects span 11 target product segments with cross-sectoral applications, covering areas such as mobile manufacturing, telecom, consumer electronics, strategic electronics, automotive, and IT hardware.
Among these, five focus on bare components like PCBs, capacitors, connectors, enclosures, and Li-ion cells; three involve sub-assemblies, including camera modules, display modules, and optical transceivers; and three relate to supply chain items such as aluminium extrusion, anode material, and laminates.
Geographical Spread and Policy Objectives
The projects are distributed across eight states: Andhra Pradesh, Haryana, Karnataka, Madhya Pradesh, Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, and Rajasthan, reflecting the government's emphasis on balanced regional industrial development.
MeitY stated that these approvals aim to strengthen domestic electronics supply chains, reduce import dependence for critical components, and promote high-value manufacturing capabilities in India.
