Türkiye Launches "Zero Waste Encyclopedia"

(MENAFN) In preparation for hosting COP31 in 2026, Türkiye's Zero Waste Foundation has made the "Zero Waste Encyclopedia" available to the public in both Turkish and English, improving access to reliable and current environmental knowledge.

The encyclopedia outlines the years in which countries initiated zero waste initiatives, tracks their documented progress, and highlights future objectives. It also investigates global practices using a comparative and data-focused approach.

Users can explore country-specific information, including recovery and recycling percentages, financial gains from recycling, trees preserved, reduced greenhouse gas emissions, buildings converted to zero waste systems, as well as target years and anticipated recycling rates.

The Conference of the Parties (COP) serves as the highest decision-making authority under the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC). It has convened annual meetings since 1995 to evaluate climate progress and negotiate mitigation actions.

Türkiye will host the 31st session (COP31) from November 9 to 20, 2026, mainly at the Turkish Riviera resort of Antalya, with the leaders’ summit scheduled in Istanbul.
