Emine Erdogan Highlights Gaza’s Resilience

(MENAFN) Turkish First Lady Emine Erdogan stated on Friday that the Palestinians hold faith in a Gaza that will rise from the ashes, and "we believe it too."

Her comments were made during the inauguration of the Kalanlar (The Remnants) Palestine Exhibition, hosted in partnership with the Kalyon Foundation and the Turkish Red Crescent in Istanbul.

Erdogan described Gaza, which covers only 365 square kilometers (approximately 227 miles), as having "become the center of the bloodiest, most brutal, most systematic genocide in history, suffering that no conscience can bear."

Despite extensive devastation, around 2 million individuals remain, striving to survive in "unimaginably difficult" circumstances to sustain Gaza, she noted.

Reflecting on the words of the late Palestinian Refaat Alareer, who was killed in an Israeli airstrike in December 2023, Erdogan emphasized: "What falls to us is to tell our story of those who remain, to raise our voices for the implementation of international law, and for this cruelty to stop immediately."

Highlighting the Palestinians’ refusal to stay silent in the face of aggression, she remarked: "The painter who lost the painting materials depicts hunger with the soot of pots that no longer boil."

Erdogan further stressed that the painter "disrupts the games of perception with the undeniable reality of art."
