Libyan Delegation Inspects Jet Crash Site in Türkiye
(MENAFN) A team of Libyan military representatives is conducting examinations at the crash location in Türkiye, where a private aircraft carrying Libyan Chief of General Staff General Mohamed Ali Al-Haddad, four accompanying officers, and three crew members went down.
The officials landed in Ankara on Wednesday and were received by representatives of the National Defense Ministry. They later traveled by minibus to Kesikkavak in Ankara’s Haymana district, the site of Tuesday’s fatal crash that claimed all lives onboard.
The delegation then moved to the wreckage zone, where investigative and recovery operations are continuing.
According to Turkish Interior Minister Ali Yerlikaya, both the black box and cockpit voice recorder were retrieved early Wednesday. He noted that the debris is scattered across an area of approximately 3 square kilometers (around 1.16 square miles).
Yerlikaya explained that the process of analyzing these devices—expected to shed light on the cause of the accident—has already begun.
More than 400 personnel are engaged in the operation, supported by 103 ground vehicles and seven aircraft.
Additionally, a 22-member Libyan delegation, including five relatives of the deceased, representatives from the Defense Ministry, and Interior Ministry officials, has also arrived in Ankara, Yerlikaya confirmed.
