Sophie King-Hill

Dr Sophie King-Hill is an Associate Professor in the Health Services Management Centre, University of Birmingham, UK. She teaches on the MSc in Healthcare Leadership. This encompasses the exploration of leadership and values and how organisations live the values that they embed and what conflicts there are surrounding this. Her research interests encompass policy evaluation, learning, transfer and success, sexual behaviours, relationships and sex education, controversial issues and LGBTQ+ communities.

Sophie has carried out research relating to sexual behaviours and sexualities form a number of perspectives. She currently holds research projects focussing upon assessing sexual behaviours, sibling sexual abuse, researcher well-being, sexual harassment, youth voice and participatory research and co-design with diverse groups.

Previously, she was a Senior Lecturer in Education and Inclusion at the University of Worcester. Alongside this she was a regional tutor for the MEd in Social, Emotional and Behavioural Difficulties with the School of Education at the University of Birmingham. Sophie previously worked extensively in the third sector and her roles have included exploring and translating policy into evidence-based practice with diverse groups such as those from the LGBTQ+ community and teenage parents. She previously taught sex and relationships in schools across the West Midlands and was the National Impact Coordinator for a leading sexual health charity for children and young people. In her work with a local council she researched, implemented and evaluated an Independent Travel Training programme for marginalised children. Within her career Sophie has specialised in diverse and marginalised groups across education and health settings - working on influencing policy through research. Sophie developed an accredited programme for teenage parents across the West Midlands which ran for six years in conjunction with working as an antenatal teacher specialising in teaching diverse and low-socio economic groups.
