Study Indicates Heart Inflammation Linked to Covid-19 Vaccines

(MENAFN) A recent scientific investigation indicates that certain Covid-19 immunizations may, in uncommon situations, provoke immune reactions capable of inflaming cardiac tissue and causing life-threatening outcomes.

The research highlights that younger males appear to face a higher vulnerability to these effects.

The study was conducted by scholars from Stanford University and released in the journal Science Translational Medicine. It explored the biological mechanisms behind cases in which individuals experienced myocarditis or pericarditis following administration of mRNA-based vaccines, including those manufactured by Pfizer and Moderna.

According to the researchers, immune cells may occasionally identify the synthetic RNA introduced by the vaccines as a foreign element and respond aggressively. In exceptional cases, this reaction can trigger the excessive production of cytokines—molecules that regulate immune activity—which may harm heart muscle cells.

Data referenced by a media outlet indicate that myocarditis linked to vaccination has been observed in approximately one out of every 140,000 recipients after an initial dose, increasing to about one in 32,000 following a second injection. The highest occurrence rate was noted among males aged 30 and under.

Reported clinical signs have involved chest discomfort, breathing difficulties, elevated temperature, and irregular heartbeats, generally emerging a few days after vaccination. While the majority of affected individuals recovered rapidly, there have been isolated reports of hospital admissions and fatalities.

These conclusions emerge amid reports that the US Food and Drug Administration is considering adding a “black box” warning—the regulator’s strongest safety notice—to Covid-19 vaccines.

As reported by a news agency, such a label would caution the public about potential risks, including myocarditis and pericarditis, though the proposal has yet to be officially confirmed.
