Cost Of Restoring Depot And Trains In Fastiv Estimated At Around UAH 400M

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) Deputy Minister for Communities and Territories Development of Ukraine, Oleksii Balesta, announced this during a briefing with journalists at the site.

He recalled that on the night of December 5–6, Russian drones and missiles once again struck Fastiv's railway facilities, with the depot suffering significant destruction.

“Shahed drones carried out about 20 strikes on the depot, while a missile also directly hit the passenger station. This once again demonstrates that the aggressor deliberately targets passenger infrastructure, which is unrelated to military transport,” he said.

According to ministry estimates, restoring the depot alone will cost about UAH 100 million.

“We calculated that the restoration of the depot will cost around UAH 100 million. Three electric train sets were located here - about 27 carriages in total. Their restoration is estimated at approximately UAH 300 million,” Balesta added.

He noted that the Fastiv railway station also sustained serious damage. Plans are underway to install a modular station together with international partners involved in the recovery effort. However, he stressed the importance of additional funding.

“Due to limited resources, we are forced to prioritize which facilities will be restored first. At present, the first stage of work is underway to enable the depot to service commuter trains. We are working to attract donor assistance for the recovery,” the official concluded.

As previously reported, since the start of Russia's full-scale invasion, about ten railway stations in Ukraine have been destroyed, while approximately 40 other facilities have sustained varying degrees of damage.
