Afghanistan Boosts Regional, International Air Links

(MENAFN) Afghanistan has opened direct air routes to 15 regional and international destinations via its five international airports, a move officials say is central to accelerating the nation’s aviation revival, a media outlet reported Monday.

The outlet noted that the country now operates 27 airports nationwide — five handling international traffic and 22 serving domestic travel. Authorities say more than 50 aviation infrastructure projects are in progress, with several already completed, as part of a broad campaign to modernize facilities and expand capacity.

Officials emphasize that widening air corridors is critical for revitalizing commerce, bolstering industrial growth and supporting broader economic recovery. Enhanced air links also ease the transport of perishable goods, giving Afghan producers improved access to markets across the region and beyond.
