Australia And New Zealand Pledge Over USD 70M In Military Aid To Ukraine


(MENAFN- UkrinForm) This was reported by Ukraine's Ambassador to Australia, Vasyl Miroshnychenko, on Facebook, Ukrinform notes.

“The Australian Government has announced an AUD 95 million (USD 63 million) military assistance package for Ukraine. This includes an AUD 50 million contribution to PURL, AUD 2 million for the Drone Coalition, and AUD 43 million in military equipment, including tactical air-defence radars, munitions, and combat engineering assets,” Miroshnychenko wrote.

He also noted that New Zealand's Foreign Minister Winston Peters and Defense Minister Judith Collins announced their country's contribution of NZD 15 million (USD 8.7 million) to the PURL initiative to supply Ukrainian forces with weapons and military equipment.

On behalf of the Ukrainian government and people, the ambassador expressed gratitude to the governments and peoples of Australia and New Zealand for their steadfast support of Ukraine during this difficult time.

As Ukrinform reported, NATO Secretary General Mark Rutte, during the opening of the NATO Foreign Ministers' Council meeting in Brussels, said that Ukraine now requires increased support from allies as Russian attacks continue during the onset of the winter period.

He called on partners to step up contributions to PURL to provide Ukraine with the necessary equipment to defend itself and to prevent future aggression.
