Rada May Consider 2026 Budget On Dec 3 If Government Reaches Compromise With Mps

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) An MP told this to Ukrinform in a comment.

“After the meeting between government officials and parliamentary factions and groups, we were sent the agenda, in which the first item is the budget bill,” the interlocutor said.

At the same time, the politician emphasized that the Budget Committee had not yet issued a decision on the document.

“The meeting of the Budget Committee is scheduled for tomorrow at 9:00. The parliamentary session was moved from 10:00 to 12:00. Government officials and MPs are supposed to attend the committee meeting tomorrow, so it may drag on, and the Rada session could be postponed again,” the MP noted.

Asked about the likelihood of the budget's approval, the lawmaker expressed doubts.

“Much will depend on the committee tomorrow, as it will review the MPs' proposals and demands regarding changes to the budget. I personally support most of these amendments,” he said.

The interlocutor noted that“if the government does not agree to a compromise with MPs, there will not be enough votes, even within the ruling majority.”

“At the moment, I don't see steps that would bring us closer to adopting the budget. I think we will approve it next plenary week...,” the MP stressed.

He also said that after meeting with government officials,“it became clear that there are no plans to increase defense spending due to lack of funds.” The lawmaker said he supports colleagues who are angered by this.

He added that MPs are also trying to resolve the issue of teachers' salaries, but“there is no concrete information yet... We will know more or less tomorrow during the committee meeting.”

As Ukrinform reported, the head of the Rada Budget Committee Roksolana Pidlasa earlier stated that parliament would consider the 2026 state budget bill in the second reading and as a whole on December 2.

At a meeting between the Servant of the People parliamentary faction and Prime Minister Yuliia Svyrydenko on December 1, the main topic was adoption of the 2026 state budget. The government did not take into account parliament's proposals to increase funding for the military and for teachers, which caused a wave of discontent among MPs.

On December 2, the parliamentary faction of the European Solidarity party blocked the rostrum of the Verkhovna Rada. MPs demanded the government's resignation and an increase in defense spending. The parliamentary session was closed early.
