Govt Releases Rs 68,394 Cr Under MGNREGS In FY26 Till November

(MENAFN- KNN India) New Delhi, Dec 2 (KNN) The Centre has released Rs 68,393.67 crore to states and Union Territories under the Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee Scheme (MGNREGS) in the current financial year.

The update, covering releases up to November 26, 2025, was shared by Rural Development Minister Shivraj Singh Chouhan in the Lok Sabha on Monday.

All admissible pending wage liabilities up to FY 2024–25 have been cleared for every state except West Bengal, the minister said.

He added that wage payments are processed daily through Public Financial Management System (PFMS), with funds directly credited to beneficiaries after states issue transfer orders.

Of the total funds released so far in FY 2025–26, Rs 57,853.62 crore pertains to wages, while Rs 10,540.05 crore has been allocated for material and administrative expenses.

The minister said fund release for these components is based on labour budgets, demand for work, utilisation patterns, pending liabilities and the submission of required documents by states.

Chouhan reiterated that MGNREGS is a demand-driven scheme and does not carry state-wise fund allocations.

Regarding the resumption of the scheme in West Bengal, the minister said the government is revising modalities to comply with directions issued by the Calcutta High Court in its order dated 18 June 2025.
