Members Appointed To Lead 'Rebuilding Sri Lanka' Fund
The Cabinet has approved the creation of the Rebuilding Sri Lanka Fund, a dedicated national mechanism to support reconstruction efforts following the widespread destruction caused by Cyclone Ditwah.
The President's Media Division (PMD) announced that the Fund will operate as a statutory body under the Presidential Secretariat. Its Management Committee will consist of senior public officials and leading private-sector representatives to guide the country's long-term recovery strategy.
Minister of Labour and Deputy Minister of Finance and Planning Dr. Anil Jayantha Fernando has been appointed Chairman of the Committee, while Senior Additional Secretary to the President G. M. R. D. Aponsu will function as the Convener.

- Hanif Yusoof, Governor of the Western Province and Special Representative of the President for Foreign Investments Dr. Harshana Suriyapperuma, Secretary, Ministry of Finance Duminda Hulangamuwa, Senior Economic Adviser to the President Sugeeshwara Gunawadhana, Director General, Ministry of Foreign Affairs Mohan Pandithage, Chairman, Hayleys Group Krishan Balendra, Chairman, John Keells Dr. Parakrama Dissanayake, Deputy Chairman and Managing Director, Aitken Spence Ashroff Omar, Group CEO, Brandix Ishara Nanayakkara, Executive Chairman, LOLC Holdings
The Committee will be tasked with assessing reconstruction needs, determining priorities, allocating resources, and overseeing the disbursement of funds for approved recovery work. It will also ensure complete transparency in all financial operations, including management and auditing of the Fund.
