Zelensky Receives Briefing On U.S. Negotiations
“A detailed briefing by the Ukrainian delegation following all their meetings in the United States. We discussed in person the matters that cannot be addressed over the phone,” Zelensky noted.
According to him, Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine Rustem Umerov and members of the negotiating team in Florida presented the key points raised by the American side. The work was conducted in accordance with the revised Geneva document.
The President expressed gratitude to the Chief of the General Staff of the Armed Forces of Ukraine, Andrii Hnatov, for providing U.S. partners with a comprehensive briefing on the current situation at the front. With the participation of intelligence services, discussions were held with the American side regarding the feasibility of various steps on the battlefield and issues related to ensuring protection from Russian strikes and preventing disruptions of agreements in the event of a ceasefire, Zelensky emphasized.
He stated that Ukrainian diplomats are actively working with all partners to ensure that European countries and other participants in the Coalition of the Willing are substantively involved in drafting decisions.
Zelensky informed his team about his talks in Paris with European leaders and with U.S. President's Special Envoy Steve Witkoff, which took place the previous day.
“We note that the Russians have already launched new disinformation campaigns in view of preparations for their upcoming meetings with the American side,” Zelensky stressed.
The President also instructed his team to continue an entirely constructive engagement with U.S. President Donald Trump's team and with European partners.
“Ukrainian intelligence will provide partners with all available information regarding Russia's true intentions and its attempts to use diplomatic engagement as cover to weaken sanctions and block important collective European decisions,” he underscored.
As Zelensky highlighted,“Ukraine approaches all diplomatic efforts with utmost seriousness – we are committed to achieving a real peace and guaranteed security. This is exactly the level of commitment that must be compelled from the Russian side, and this task can be accomplished only together with our partners. The Secretary of the National Security and Defense Council of Ukraine will maintain continuous contact with the United States to determine the schedule of future meetings.”
