Parliament Rostrum Blocked By European Solidarity, Opposition Demands Government Resignation - Session Closed Early

(MENAFN- UkrinForm) An Ukrinform correspondent reports this.

“Dismissing Yermak is a necessary but insufficient step. Ukraine is facing a threefold crisis: a crisis at the front, a corruption crisis, and a crisis in relations with partners during the peace negotiations. And it is precisely the parliament - and all of us - who must determine whether Ukraine can overcome this crisis,” said the leader of European Solidarity, Petro Poroshenko.

The MP recalled that the faction continues to collect signatures for the resignation of the current government, its replacement, and the formation of a new coalition.

According to him, nearly 100 MPs have already signed the bill.

In his address, the politician also stressed the need to dismiss from the government all individuals implicated in the scandalous Mindich case.

At the same time, the opposition demands that President Volodymyr Zelensky meet with parliament upon his return from abroad“to develop a strategy for the peace process jointly.”

After Poroshenko's speech, representatives of the opposition faction began chanting“government must go” near the rostrum.

For his part, the Chairperson of the Verkhovna Rada, Ruslan Stefanchuk, announced the early closure of the plenary session.

“I inform you that today we had a series of important bills on the agenda, including issues related to the translation of the Convention, where it was necessary to remove the Russian language [the draft law "On Amendments to Certain Laws of Ukraine in Connection with the Update of the Official Translation of the European Charter for Regional or Minority Languages."]. The faction you see is blocking consideration of this bill today. Colleagues, unfortunately, I am being subjected to illegal pressure as a public official. I am compelled to announce a recess in our plenary session,” he said.

Consideration of today's agenda items has concluded.
