Srinagar- The Youth Services and Sports (YSS) Department has launched a series of trekking expeditions across multiple districts of Jammu and Kashmir, drawing strong participation from schoolchildren and highlighting the administration's emphasis on adventure-based learning.
In Kishtwar, boys participating in the Inter-Zonal District Level Residential Trekking Expedition completed the seventh day of their journey, travelling from the base camp through the Tilmuchi–Hargardh route. Officials said the trek aimed to strengthen endurance, discipline, and environmental consciousness among the participants. The programme is being held under the supervision of the Director General, YSS, with district and zonal teams monitoring logistics and safety.
In Ganderbal, the second batch of a district-level trekking camp for boys and girls set out for Pahalgam. After reaching the base on November 30, the group completed its first trek to Betaab Valley. Officials said the ongoing programme, which runs until December 4, blends physical activity with outdoor education and aims to boost confidence and teamwork.
