ACB Chargesheets Senior Scientist In Bribery Case

Srinagar- The Jammu and Kashmir Anti-Corruption Bureau on Monday filed a charge-sheet against Dr Bilquees Ara Sidique, then in-charge Scientist-C at the Pollution Control Committee, Srinagar, in connection with a trap case registered under the Prevention of Corruption Act.
Officials said the charge-sheet was presented before the court of the Additional Special Judge Anti-Corruption, Srinagar, in FIR No. 02/2024 registered under Section 7 of the Prevention of Corruption Act, 1988.
According to the case details, the FIR was registered on Jan 08, 2024 on a written complaint alleging that the accused demanded a bribe of Rs 20,000 for issuing Consent to Operate clearance for a bakery unit located at the Industrial Estate Khunmoh.
ADVERTISEMENTFollowing the complaint, a trap was laid by ACB officials during which the accused was allegedly caught red-handed while accepting Rs 5,000 as part payment from the complainant. The bribe amount was recovered on the spot.
Officials further said chemical tests later confirmed the presence of phenolphthalein powder on the accused's hands, strengthening the prosecution case.
