EU Ready To Impose New Sanctions On Belarus

(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA)) Brussels, Dec 1 (KUNA) -- European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen announced on Monday that the European Union is preparing additional measures under its sanctions regime, following the escalating situation along the Lithuanian-Belarusian border.
Von der Leyen had spoken with Lithuanian President Gitanas Nauseda about the deteriorating conditions at the border with Belarus, amid the increasing incursions of smuggling balloons into Lithuanian airspace.
"The situation at the border with Belarus is worsening, with the growing incursions of smuggling balloons into Lithuania's airspace," she wrote on her X account.
Von der Leyen added that "such hybrid attack by the Lukashenka regime is completely unacceptable," stressing that Lithuania "continues to have our full solidarity". (end)
