Spain Police Dismantles White Supremacist Terrorist Organization

(MENAFN) Spanish police announced Monday they have dismantled a white supremacist terrorist organization with suspected connections to The Base, a neo-Nazi network.

Authorities described the group as Spain's inaugural known accelerationist terror cell—a reference to the far-right extremist ideology that promotes utilizing violence to collapse societal structures and establish a whites-only ethnostate.

Law enforcement detained three suspects, including the cell's ringleader, while confiscating firearms, ammunition, paramilitary training equipment and neo-Nazi propaganda materials.

The detained leader, currently in custody, allegedly maintained direct communication with The Base's US-based founder. The Base has been classified as a terrorist entity across the European Union, Canada, the United Kingdom, Australia and New Zealand.

Last month, the founder publicly called on followers to bolster international cells and execute targeted strikes aimed at destabilizing Western democratic systems, Spanish police noted.

The probe launched earlier this year after counterterrorism operatives identified an individual displaying severe radicalization consistent with the organization's ideology. Investigators established he belonged to a coordinated three-member cell whose participants had adopted accelerationist principles and demonstrated readiness to conduct violent operations.

Officials confirmed the suspects had already performed tactical training exercises utilizing paramilitary methods and gear.

Investigators determined the network exploited social media platforms to attract prospective recruits and circulate accelerationist propaganda.

The Base was established in 2018 by Rinaldo Nazzaro, a former US Pentagon contractor now residing in Russia. According to the New Zealand National Security Board, the organization has demonstrated significant activity in recent years, evolving from a predominantly US-centered operation into a transnational network comprised of largely independent cells of violent extremists.

Additional suspected members of the organization have been apprehended in Italy, the Netherlands and Belgium.
