Turkish vice president says nation is playing leading role in halal trade
(MENAFN) Vice President Cevdet Yılmaz stated on Friday that Türkiye is playing a leading role in shaping the future of halal trade, leveraging its robust industrial base, skilled workforce, and extensive experience, according to reports.
The four-day World Halal Summit and Halal Expo began on Wednesday in Istanbul, gathering industry participants under the theme “Strengthening Halal Industry via Innovation and Excellence.” The 11th edition of the event runs through Saturday, held under the auspices of the Turkish presidency with support from the Organization of Islamic Cooperation (OIC), the Turkish Trade Ministry, and the Halal Accreditation Agency. Anadolu serves as the event’s global communications partner.
In a video message to the summit, Yılmaz emphasized that the rising global demand for halal products and services—prepared in line with Islamic principles—demonstrates that the clean, safe, and healthy production standards promoted by Islam are both socially and economically viable.
He noted that the halal economy has now surpassed $7 trillion, reflecting a market that meets not only the needs of Muslim communities but also global consumer expectations.
“In this context, the halal economy has become a strategic area that enhances production quality, strengthens trust in trade and creates new opportunities for cooperation among Islamic countries,” Yılmaz said.
