Turkish Foreign Minister to Visit Iran for Strategic Talks
(MENAFN) Turkish Foreign Minister Hakan Fidan is scheduled to travel to Iran on Sunday for a series of high-level discussions aimed at fortifying bilateral relations and addressing critical regional matters, ministry officials reported on Saturday.
During his trip, Fidan is anticipated to hold meetings with his Iranian counterpart Abbas Araghchi, along with other top-ranking officials.
The dialogue will concentrate on strengthening the institutional framework of bilateral engagement under the High-Level Cooperation Council, which was established in 2014.
Fidan is also set to review preparations for the ninth council session, which will take place under the leadership of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan and Iranian President Masoud Pezeshkian.
The conversations are likely to underscore the significance of enhancing cooperation on security and counterterrorism, as well as accelerating infrastructure initiatives for border trade hubs and regional connectivity.
Furthermore, the Turkish foreign minister is expected to advocate for intensified collaborative efforts to reach the $30 billion target in bilateral trade and stress the importance of sustaining dialogue between the two nations to foster regional stability.
He will also reaffirm Türkiye’s support for a "peaceful resolution" to Iran’s nuclear program and highlight that Israel’s "aggressive policies" continue to impede stability in the area, according to the sources.
