QMC Will Launch Its Media Encyclopedia On Monday

(MENAFN- Gulf Times) The Qatar Media Corporation (QMC) will launch its Media Encyclopedia on November 25, aimed at documenting media concepts, theories, prominent figures, and influential institutions within a scientific and methodological framework that enhances knowledge and supports the development of media discourse in Arabic. The event's programme includes welcoming attendees, an opening address, an introductory video, the official launch announcement, a panel discussion, and closing remarks, QMC has said. This project is part of QMC's strategic direction to support media knowledge in Arabic, meet the needs of academics and professionals, and keep pace with the rapid transformations in the digital environment. The encyclopedia also aims to enhance critical awareness among audiences, enabling them to understand media messages across traditional and digital platforms through reliable written and audio content. This will contribute to improving media performance and the use of terminology and concepts. The encyclopedia will be available in two formats: written and audio, through a specialised online platform that allows access to the content at any time. A policy of continuous updating will be adopted to keep pace with developments in the media field. The encyclopedia's content covers key areas including: traditional and digital media terminology, and media theories and their applications. The encyclopedia aims to enrich the Arabic media library with diverse scholarly content that combines specialization with ease of digital use. The encyclopedia distinguishes itself from other dictionaries by not being limited to brief definitions or direct translations. Instead, it presents media concepts within an analytical and historical context that clarifies their theoretical and applied development, while adhering to lexicographical principles and standardising terminology in clear and eloquent Arabic. The project complements a media initiative that aims to stimulate discussion about media concepts through the organisation of cultural seminars and specialized events, and the production of digital content across the institution's platforms.
