On November 21, the free Natural Soundscapes Jam event took place, a multisensory experience suitable for the whole family that combined live music, real soundscapes from Costa Rica, large-format audiovisual projections, and immersiv technology.

Produced by House of Dirt and Costaphonics, this event, licensed by the essential COSTA RICA Country Brand, was held at the AC Marriott San José Airport Belén hotel at 7:30 p.m. and sought to connect with the sounds that highlight the Costa Rica experience.

Live music was provided by Costa Rican artists Mazzk, Hot Quesadillas, and a special pop-up performance by Soultwo. In addition, the international collective Alligator Patrol made a special appearance, reinforcing the connection between the Costa Rican music scene and international talent who have close ties to the country. Alligator Patrol is made up of the following artists:

. Thomas Pridgen - Drummer (The Mars Volta, Snoop Dogg, Residente, Free Nationals)

. Bigyuki (Masayuki Hirano) Keyboardist (A Tribe Called Quest, Robert Glasper, Bilal)

. Jonathan Mones - Saxophonist (Ghost Note, Kamasi Washington, Erykah Badu)

. Brad Miller - Bassist (Blaque Dynamite, JD Beck, Oz Noy)

“At Costaphonics, we are very proud to be able to offer free activities for all audiences that celebrate our biodiversity. We are a country where we can still hear ancient forests and therefore have access to the origins of language and music through our natural sounds. Creating community from this perspective, and doing so on a structure that generates income through royalties for our forests, is something we are truly proud of and hope to continue doing for many years to come,” Santiago Roberts, Costaphonics.

During the evening, two live sessions by Alligator Patrol (“Get off the internet” and“The Other One”) were presented, filmed in Costa Rica. In addition, both songs are also an essential COSTA RICA project, as they support the country's positioning as a global benchmark in sustainability and innovation by transforming the country's natural sounds into contemporary musical experiences with a direct environmental impact.

“Projects like these show that creativity can also be a tool for conservation and brings together talent and environmental purpose to remind us that artistic expressions can inspire global awareness and concrete action to protect our nature,” said Adriana Acosta, Director of esencial COSTA RICA.

The project, developed in collaboration with The Listening Planet (TLP)-the world's largest natural sound platform with active partnerships with the United Nations and global environmental organizations-allows recordings made in Costa Rican ecosystems to be turned into music distributed internationally.

As part of its impact model, 50% of the royalties from each piece of music produced with natural sounds will go directly to the conservation of the forests where the recordings were captured, creating a virtuous circle between creativity and local development.
