The Digital Age Drives Transformation Toward A More Competitive Costa Rica
The Costa Rican-American Chamber of Commerce (AmCham) and the Chamber of Infocommunications and Technology (Infocom) held the VI Telecommunications Forum: Driving Costa Rica Toward a Digital and Competitive Futur, a space for dialogue that brought together leaders from the public and private sectors to analyze the challenges and opportunities of digital transformation in the country.
During the event, the On Focus Talks offered a comprehensive overview of technological advances and priorities for the productive sector. The talks delved into business automation, inclusive connectivity, information security, artificial intelligence, and 5G, as well as strategic perspectives on cybersecurity and the role of AI in decision-making.
The panel of presidential candidates, which included José Aguilar, Claudia Dobles, Eliecer Feinzaig, Juan Carlos Hidalgo, and Natalia Díaz, highlighted the importance of the Forum as a space for multisectoral dialogue with national impact. By integrating political visions with technical and business perspectives, the event made it possible to project a shared roadmap on how digital transformation, 5G infrastructure, and cybersecurity should be consolidated as state priorities. These elements are fundamental to ensuring sustainable development, attracting foreign direct investment, and closing technological inclusion gaps. The exchange of ideas also provided valuable input to enrich the formulation and updating of public policy that the industry will require.
For AmCham, these spaces are essential for strengthening the business ecosystem and promoting strategic decisions based on timely information. Coordination between sectors allows for the identification of opportunities, the reduction of gaps, and progress toward a more competitive environment that is prepared to respond to the demands of the digital economy.
“Today more than ever, technology defines our competitiveness. It is not just a matter of adopting digital tools, but of transforming the way we make decisions, innovate, and connect with the world. Artificial intelligence, 5G connectivity, and cybersecurity are strategic pillars for the growth of our companies and for attracting
high-value investment. At AmCham, we promote a modern, collaborative, and purposeful vision, where digital transformation is a real ally of sustainable development and Costa Rican talent,” said Juan Carlos Chavarría, president of AmCham.
For his part, Mario Montero, president of Infocom, highlighted that“today we are meeting at a crucial moment for the country. Costa Rica is on the threshold of a new political cycle, and the period 2026–2030 will be decisive for our competitiveness, our ability to attract investment, and our social well-being. That is why we insist on something fundamental: telecommunications cannot be seen as an isolated issue; they must become a priority for the State.”
At Infocom, we firmly believe in the country's potential, but that potential can only be realized with vision, commitment, and leadership.
Both organizations expressed their willingness to collaborate with whoever is elected president of the Republic, to support strategic decisions and contribute solutions that will enable the construction of a digital, modern, and competitive Costa Rica.
