Lebanese Pres. Urges Int'l Community To Stop Israeli Occupation Attacks
(MENAFN- Kuwait News Agency (KUNA))
BEIRUT, Nov 23 (KUNA) -- Lebanese President Joseph Aoun called on the international community to take responsibility and intervene to stop the attacks on Lebanon and its people by the Israeli occupation forces, and prevent further deterioration and bloodshed.
President Aoun considered, in a statement on Sunday, the targeting of the southern suburbs of Beirut, which coincided with Independence Day, yet another proof of the Israeli occupation's defiance of repeated calls for halting the attacks on Lebanon.
He added that the Israeli occupation "refuses to implement international resolutions and all the efforts and initiatives to end the escalation and restore stability, not only to Lebanon but to the entire region." Aoun pointed out "Lebanon, which has adhered to the cessation of hostilities for almost a year now, and has presented initiative after initiative, renews its call to the international community to assume responsibility and intervene to stop the attacks." The Israeli occupation targeted a building in Haret Hreik, southern Lebanon, resulting in an initial toll of one dead and 21 injured, causing significant damage to cars and surrounding buildings.
