Doha, Qatar: The Ministry of Culture, in cooperation with the Mauritanian Community Office in Doha, hosted the Mauritanian Cultural Week to celebrate the 65th anniversary of the Islamic Republic of Mauritania's independence and the 50 years of diplomatic relations between Mauritania and Qatar.

The events took place at Bait Al Sulaiti with a broad official and cultural attendance.

The first day of the events included an exhibition of Mauritanian cultural and traditional heritage, where attendees viewed artifacts and handicrafts reflecting the country's cultural identity.

This was followed by poetry readings by writer Mahfouz Ould Abu and poet Dr. Adi Ould Adbba, who presented texts that blended celebration of the Mauritanian (Shinqiti) heritage with expressions of humanitarian concern for the Palestinian people, particularly in Gaza.

The first day also witnessed two scientific lectures, the first on the insights into the prospects of bilateral cooperation between Mauritania and Qatar after half a century of diplomatic relations, and the second on the 65th national independence day, covering the narrative of resistance and the future of the nation.
