Machado Has Remained in Hiding Since July 2024

Machado, who has been living in hiding in Venezuela for nearly a year following the July 28, 2024 elections, has been unable to remain in the public sphere due to security concerns and political persecution, according to civil organizations and international actors. Her participation in the Nobel ceremony will mark her first international appearance since she was forced into hiding, a fact of high political symbolism for the region.

Other Presidents Who Will Travel to Oslo

In addition to Mulino, the following are also expected to attend: Javier Milei, President of Argentina and Daniel Noboa, President of Ecuador.
